MY HEART IS MEEK AND HUMBLE|WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART?| Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The greatest battles in life are neither those fought on fields of war nor those between two nations at war, but is that fought in the heart. When people are at war, neighbours intervene to help settle or fuel the disputes. But the war in the heart has no sympathizers, hence it is the deadliest.

When the heart of man is at peace, it shows from his actions, no wonder Jesus says in Matt 15:11-18:

it is not what goes into a man that makes him unclean but that which comes out of his mouth…because what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.

The feast we celebrate today (the sacred heart of Jesus) is an epitome for every Christian- a heart flowing with Love for men. Jesus tells us in Matt 11:27-28: "come to me all you that are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me for I am meek and humble of Heart." And after his death, in John 19:34 we are told blood and water flowed from his pierced side. The blood and the water are testimonies of his Humility and Gentility.

That we may be saved, scripture tell us in Rev 5:5-6,9 that the Lion of the Tribe of Judah became a lamb that was slain. What gentility, oh what humility surpasses this? For this very act, Phil 2:9-11 says "God highly exalted him and gave him a name that is greater than every other name in heaven, on earth and under the earth..."

The Question for you is: what is in your heart? Aside the heart another place where great battles are fought today is the Church, among members of the Body of Christ. Christ says his heart is meek and humble, but the heart of Christians today is full of evil, rivalry and descensions.

Child of God as you read this message: if you know you have any evil intentions against anyone, to pull them down, defame them, steal from them or deny them their rights, etc, rebuke that thought now so that the war in your heart wouldn’t consume you. Sin knocks at the door of your heart, do not open for it.

Pray now: Jesus let your love fill my heart and inflame it with the glory of your presence so that good thoughts will envelope my heart and goodness will fill my life. Amen.

Remember, you become what you think. Think of good things and your life shall be filled with good things. Shalom
